Before you start
- Check the fit. Our replacement door is for compatible plastic Intermatic timer boxes, not metal ones. It measures approximately 9⅜ × 5½ inches. Compare its size, shape, and hinge with your old door or box. The timer model number alone does not guarantee a fit.
- Check the box. Its hinge must be intact, and its closing clip must hold the door shut. This product includes the door only, not the box or timer.
- Stay clear of electricity. Turn off power at the breaker before working around the box. Do not touch the wiring or timer parts. If you see water inside, damaged wiring, or a broken box, contact a qualified electrician.
Replace the door in five steps
1. Clear the hinge. Gently remove any loose pieces of the old door from the outside hinge, then wipe away dirt.
2. Prepare the hinge. If it feels stiff, the video suggests a little lubricant. Use a small amount suitable for plastic on the exposed hinge, keeping it out of the timer box.
3. Line up the door. Hold the new door partly open, at about a 45-degree angle to the box. Align the two hinges.
4. Slide it on. Support the box hinge with a finger while gently sliding the door hinge into place. If it resists, recheck the fit. Don’t force it.
5. Check the closure. The door should swing freely and stay shut with the clip. If it won’t close securely, fix that issue before relying on it outdoors. Restore power and check the timer’s clock and schedule.
